Al Watan newspaper reported by citing a source that the Syrian government forces have recaptured the city of Saraqib in the east of the Idlib province.
The source said that the city was recaptured by Syrian forces from the Jabhat al-Nusra group.
In February, the Syrian government forces captured Saraqib, which angered Turkey. However, the Syrian forces fought off the attacks waged by armed Turkey backed Syrian anti-government forces carried out on 11 and 20 February. And Russian media said that Syrian troops had to retreat for tactical reasons.
In another development, it is agreed by both parties that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will have talks in Moscow.
Already, Turkey has confirmed that Erdogan will make a one-day trip to Moscow on 5 March 2020. It was announced by the Kremlin on 1 March 2020 that it was hoping to arrange a meeting between Erdogan and Putin to resolve the situation in Syria’s Idlib region.
