In an election campaign on 8 February 2020, Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett called for a “cold war” with Iran. He also warned that Hamas leaders will be targeted, if ‘violence’ from Gaza doesn’t stop.
He said he is not interested in more two- or three-day rounds of ‘violence’ with Hamas.
According to him, Israel will start a significant offensive at a moment chosen by it. He also said that it would change the present status quo. He didn’t provide further details. He also warned that Israel would launch military operations in which no Hamas leadership will be spared.
The exchange of fire between Gaza and Israel is continuing. Israel claims that Palestinian side has been launching explosive balloons and sporadic rockets. On the other side, the Palestinian side has blamed Israel Defense Forces for airstrikes on alleged Hamas positions where innocents have become victims.
